I wouldn't say I feel compelled because it is easy enough to write quality posts and schedule them to be published in advance. I would imagine the blogs that have to stay on top of the latest news are the ones that feel the most compelled.

It is hard to say there is a set of responsibilities because I am a new blogger so the jury's is still out on that one. In regards to publishing every day, when I look at various blogs from the big ones to little ones, I realize those who publish several times a day, the quality of work seems to suffer so as a result, I set my own publishing schedule. I feel that this helps improve the quality of my posts. I even go back and refine some posts from time to time.

It is important to read, knowledge gives us choices so I too prefer to read worthy articles and work on my own draft when my thoughts are organized instead of chaos. I find writing a quality post can take me anywhere from an hour to a few days, although the one hour quality feels like I am not doing myself justice.

What are rainchecks? I never heard of them before.

It will be interesting to see how the consumers' shift towards frugality affects the overall market, especially retail. This is something I have been doing for a while shopping at Amazon to find quality items at a steep discount so I am curious to see how much sales Amazon makes during this time period, if it went up or down and on what kind of purchases.

As for frozen pizza, you can make your own and freeze them. Far more economical and better-tasting.

I heard the other day that Kroger reported very good earnings this past quarter which surprised me. I guess that it goes along with the point Curt made where grocery stores are going to do well now in this market. However, I think it will only be the common grocery stores like Wal-Mart and Kroger and not the high end specialty stores like Whole Foods.

Interesting point. I definitely do not think they will literally cut prices. I look at it as they will always try to find ways to make it appear as though they have cut prices on sale items and being able to deduce the real "current market value" of a food or product will get more difficult as consumers feel more of the pinch and stores come up with more creative marketing techniques.

I think the grocery stores are not going to have to cut prices. They will be raising prices as the demand increases due to more people buying food to cook at home vs. eating out. Grocery store demand is already seeing an increase even with rising prices of food.

My local supermarket is offering a brand credit card with tons of incentives. I see more of that kind of thing happening, where store will have their own promotions above and beyond manufacturer's specials.

The downside that I see is because of the huge shortages in corn and rice, food prices will be going up - especially on items that have been traditionally inexpensive, like dried beans.

Thanks for the mention Ralph!

I like your thought process and people becoming more frugal and the impacts it will have. I especially like your reference to the “ring up” process! I assume that most people behind my wife and I in line at the local Wal-Mart get upset with us as we monitor and scrutinize every single item/coupon that goes through. Just last Saturday we had two items (shampoo & baby cereal) ring up incorrectly. It would have only been .40 cents more if we didn't catch it, but it is the principle of the matter.

Great Questions!

1. Definitely. I hate missing a day. I like to post 1-2 times a day. Like PassiveFamilyIncome, my blog is so new I feel like I need to keep feeding it.

2. Yes/No. I do feel like it is a job in that I want to regularly keep it updated, having it look good and presenting a good "product." But I am still having so much fun with it, it hardly feels like a job!

3. No. I could see how this could be a problem, but as of yet I have a huge list of ideas to write about. My worry is that my posts could get too long. I tend to be a bit wordy!

Ralph -

1 - YES - I think that because my blog is so young that I need to post at least 5 times per week to get things moving.

2 - YES - If I want to be a successful blogger, then I need to treat it as a job which I have been lately.

3 - YES - I have been posting one per day during the week and take the weekends off from posting to spend a lot of time reading other blogs.

I hope to slow down on the number of posts per week - eventually. I want to get my name out there and get my readership up and then I will try and write longer less frequent posts.
