About

Enginero.com - About Me Thank you for happening on to the site of my blog. My name is Ralph and I’m a 30 31 year-old guy currently living in Tennessee. I have been a huge fan of tons of other people’s blogs for so long that I decided to start one of my own. As a guy, husband, personal finance nut, web developer, and “wanna be” wood-working handyman, I can only imagine how varied my posts will end up over time.

Motivation…

There were two main reasons why I decided to start the blog. The first reason was that I simply do not know many people that I can talk to about personal finances, frugality, and building wealth. Either because of societal taboos or because I know they aren’t on the same wavelength, it has been very hard to find anyone like myself. I am fortunate that my wife and parents have similar personal interests, but not to the degree that I do and I don’t like to feel as though I’m always “boring them with the details“.

The second reason was that I think it is important for to have a sounding board for me to air my everyday B.S.. Similar to writing the classic journal or spilling the beans to a psychologist, I have found great release in the fact that I can type to my heart’s content about topics that I would generally shy away in normal “everyday people” conversations.

Family…

My wife and I have been married since 2006 and she is truly the love of my life. She is the yin to my yang, the comforting realist to my dreams, and what keeps me grounded in my constant state of personal evolution.

My parents also live in Tennessee, about an hour and half away from us. I was raised as your typical corporate brat. Both of my parents worked and I was a latch-key kid. We moved quite a few times while I was still in school, but the place we stayed the longest was New Jersey and that is what I call “home”. My parents worked very hard to get me to where I am today and I am eternally grateful. I would be willing to bet that their humble nature wouldn’t allow to take credit for me not being a totally useless pile, but it was their guidance that has given me a strong foundation for being a conscientious adult. In my opinion, it would be great to have them closer to us, but they have a nice house in a nice town and who am I to ask them to move.

Goals…

I really don’t have any lofty goals for the blog. It serves its’ purpose as my sounding board and I’ve already been able to converse with some great people on topics that I enjoy. If it all ended today, I would be happy with how it turned out so far.

The only thing I would like to add in summation would be that I appreciate everyone who takes the time to comment on my posts. Good, bad, or indifferent it is truly awesome to see that my writing has been noticed and was actionable.

I’m always looking for more great blogs to add to my blogroll. So, if you’d like to trade links, please feel free to let me know. You can post a comment here or contact me directly.
